Dating these old Strats is never easy, but it is all early parts, and may well be the matching neck/body that left the factory together?
Unfortunately instruments of this vintage are rarely in excellent condition [ if you want one that hasn’t been tampered with, and is original that is ! ], and this one is no exception.
In this case we decided to leave the guitar just as we received it from the previous owner, so any touch-ups /efforts to refurbish it back to vintage specs are up to the prospective buyer, if so desired.
The fact that it looks so tatty leads to amazement though when you plug it in and whack out a chord, because it feels and sounds absolutely amazing – this explains why these old Strats are so legendary and sought after. A specimen like this in top condition would be commanding 2/3 times our asking price, so this is indeed an opportunity to own something of this era at a discounted price due to the finish/condition.
Scruffy, but a great player, and a brilliant project to possibly refurbish.
