Production of the J160E began as early as 1954, and ceased in 1977, so this is one of the later
models. In 1954 the market for acoustics was still huge, and an acoustic with a single coil pickup
was a radical departure from the efforts Mr Fender, Mr Rickenbacker and Mr Gretsch who were all
full steam ahead into the new solid electrics that were being demanded by the new Rock And Roll
market.
The J160E was the Beatles acoustic of choice, and both George Harrison and John Lennon owned
and played them.
