In the 1930`s, in those dark days before TV, people actually played a lot of musical instruments at
home. It`s difficult to picture it now, but one of the biggest money spinners then was sheet music.
Even companies like Gibson were into publishing and distribution of music, and actively got into the
promotion of banjo groups and orchestra`s, and even had franchised music teacher/salesmen all
over America in order to promote sales from the early 1900`s.
The banjo and the mandolin were big business and the guitar was about to burst in on the scene
and become even bigger business. It was exciting times, there was plenty of music on the radio and
home entertainment wasn’t in 7.2 surround, it was much more fun – you got your mates, a couple of
drinks and did it for yourself.
This brings us to this beautiful example of a 1937 tenor which is classic to that era.
